Community Assistants
Curious about what it takes to be a Community Assistant? Check out the full job description here!
Community Assistants (CAs) are undergraduate student staff who live on-campus to assist students with acclimating to the university, building a positive community and navigating interpersonal concerns. CAs also assist with roommate mediation, crisis response, and policy enforcement. The CA should be your first contact for situations such as: roommate conflicts, getting involved in your community, identifying campus resources, and other residential assistance. CAs live in every community across campus. Students can reach their CA throughout the day or the CA on duty every night from 8:00 pm – 7:00 am; the CA on duty can be reached by calling the duty phone for your building, which is posted around the hall.
The CA position is for one academic year. CAs receive a furnished, single-bedroom in an assigned residence hall or apartment, a campus meal plan providing 14 meals a week when classes are in session, and a $1,000 stipend for the academic year ($500 per semester), disbursed on a bi-weekly basis. CAs are assigned and required to live in their designated residence hall or apartment community.
Recruitment for new Community Assistant candidates begins each year in the fall semester. We seek a diverse pool of undergraduate students to be a part of our team! The CA position is a rewarding and challenging leadership position that will develop your interpersonal skills and connect you with lifelong friends and memorable experiences.
