Class Descriptions
Beginner Aikido
(max capacity: 16)
Participation in Aikido can help to increase your ability to focus and stay calm under pressure along with developing strategies for conflict resolution. Participants will learn effective protection techniques of the traditional Japanese martial art, Aikido, as taught at Agatsu Dojos. Students can expect to acquire skills in defense through redirection of force without aggression or competition. Specifically, foundational movement and timing principles will lead to techniques that engage throws, locks and pins. Students can expect to also learn ukemi, or the art of receiving techniques, which includes back falls. Exposure to handling of the Jo (wooden staff) and Ken (wooden sword) are also incorporated at this level. No previous experience needed!
Intermediate/Advanced Aikido
(max capacity: 16)
The intermediate Aikido class builds upon foundational teachings of the beginner class. Participants will begin to explore the function of movements while learning to effectively integrate them into techniques while advancing their ukemi to include front and back rolls. Students also can expect to continue building upon solo Jo and Ken exercises. Invitation to this class is at the discretion of the instructor.
µþ°¿¶Ù³Û±Ê±«²Ñ±Ê®
(max capacity: 25)
This barbell class will strengthen your entire body and challenge all of your major muscle groups by using weight room exercises like squats, presses, lifts, and curls. Great music, motivating instructors, and a team environment will get you through every workout. You will use a variety of weighted barbells through different music tracks, each dedicated to a different muscle group. Instructions will guide you in movements, weight selections, and tempo. This is a strength training class but moves at a quicker pace, so you should expect both strength and cardiovascular efforts. You will always make your own weight selection and decide if and when to challenge yourself.
Boxing
Candlelit Yoga
(max capacity: 30)
Are you looking for a mid-week reset? Join us for a 60-minute, accessible yoga practice where we use the tools of yoga to explore balance and mobility both with a chair and on a mat within the same class. Through the practice, we'll learn variations of traditional standing and seated yoga shapes that you can take with you off the mat into everyday life. The practice is a full Yoga experience including warm up, relaxation, making shapes, pranayama (breathing practices), and meditation.
Chair, mat, blocks, and strap are provided--just bring yourself (and perhaps a cozy blanket/towel)!
F.A.Q.:
Am I flexible enough for yoga?
You are exactly flexible enough for this practice (no matter your current degree).
Am I ______ enough for yoga?
You also have just the right size, experience, age, and shape for this practice. This practice is one of self-discovery and renewal. So long as you bring your curiosity and compassion, you are ready.
Cycle 45
(max capacity: 20)
Join one of our indoor cycling classes to get moving and find motivation with your fellow Profs! Cycling allows you to train your aerobic and anaerobic fitness level in an energetic, group setting. Class focus can combine any variety of endurance, strength, intervals, high intensity and recovery. Instructors will use uplifting music and imagery to guide you through each class. Instructors will take you through hills, sprints, jogs, etc., by cueing speeds, gear, and power. You will alway decide if and when to challenge yourself throughout each ride.
Pilates Fusion
(max capacity: 20)
Pilates Fusion is the best of both worlds - pilates core strengthening with elements of HIIT (High Intensity Interval Training). Bringing together the world of “mind-body” exercises with “high intensity” muscle endurance exercises. Your instructor will program traditional pilates exercises paired with a higher intensity move to find a sweet balance of functional core work and a cardiovascular push. With the workout changing week to week, you’ll find variety in the movements while strengthening each muscle group. With a focus on form, instructors will cue movements that you can use inside and outside of class.
Meditation
This class will focus on slow, deep breathing techniques and meditative postures. Beginning with gentle postures and ending with a long rest, this practice aims to relax the mind and the body. Follow Instructor Abigail's voice as she guides you through this meditative practice.
Recharge Yoga
The aim of this session is to decompress at the end of our week and prepare ourselves for the next week to come. Please join Instructor Abigail for a renewing flow featuring a balancing blend of Yin and Yang yoga followed by extended savasana. Our hope is that you will leave each session feeling supported and a bit more connected to yourself and others around you.
Restorative Yoga
Reiki
(max capacity: 30)
Reiki is a Japanese energy technique for stress reduction and relaxation that treats the whole person including body, emotions, mind, and spirit. Join Ashley Shaw, Reiki Master Teacher, for a guided meditation and Reiki session. Each attendee leaves the session with a tangible reminder of their experience.
Rhythm Ride
(max capacity: 20)
Similar to our Cycle 45, riders can expect an indoor cycling workout that challenges your endurance and strength through hills, sprints, intervals, and more. Let the music guide you - in our Rhythm Ride class, instructors will use the music to inspire the workout. Your pedal strokes will match the beat of the music, and your instructor will guide you through light choreography like push ups, crunches, tap backs, and more, challenging your core strength, stability, and adding variety to your ride! Rhythm Ride is our Cycle 45 with a twist, however riders always have the choice to opt out or modify choreography. Riders can expect a challenging indoor cycling workout in an environment that mimics a Friday night dance party. You will alway decide if and when to challenge yourself throughout each ride.
