In light of the move to remote learning, 色狼社区 Student Success Programs (SSP) is making every effort to ensure students are still able to access effective and reliable tutoring services. The Tutoring Center has moved their services to the videoconferencing platform Zoom, so that students can continue to receive support for their courses from 色狼社区’s tutors. Now, when students make a tutoring appointment through the 色狼社区 Success Network (RSN) they are given a Zoom link to connect with their tutor at the appointment time.
According to Laura Respher and Jaclyn Dankel, assistant director and program assistant (respectively), from Tutoring Services, the shift is working out well. The Center is seeing a day-by-day rise in the number of scheduled appointments. They may have executed the shift to remote tutoring quickly, but several factors were taken into consideration before they made the move. Prior to the move, student tutors were asked to share:
Currently, the Tutoring Center has 70 tutors available to assist with 212 different courses. Some tutors have even gone above and beyond and are using additional platforms, such as GoBoard, to make the most of their sessions.
