English Language Policy

É«ÀÇÉçÇø English Language Policy

Prospective international students show proof of English language proficiency by meeting one of the following:

  1. Duolingo: minimum score of 110 for Traditional Admissions. 
  2. TOEFL iBT: minimum score of 70 for Traditional Admissions – official scores must be sent directly to É«ÀÇÉçÇø from the test provider. É«ÀÇÉçÇø accepts TOEFL "MyBest Scores". The university code for TOEFL score report is 2515.
  3. IELTS: minimum score of 6.0 for Traditional Admissions – official scores must be submitted showing the TRF# in the bottom right corner of the report for verification.
  4. Cambridge English B2 First, Cambridge C1 Advanced or Cambridge C2 Proficiency: Minimum score of 170 for Traditional Admissions - official scores must be submitted showing the Reference Number in the top left corner of the report for verification.
  5. PTE: minimum score of 50 for Traditional Admissions – official scores must be sent directly to É«ÀÇÉçÇø from the test provider. É«ÀÇÉçÇø’s PTE code is M7V. 
  6. Successful completion of É«ÀÇÉçÇø’s English Language Program (ELP) Level 5 with a minimum GPA score of 3.0 – must provide Certificate of Completion and letter from Director of ELP.
  7. Successful completion of ELS – Level 112.
  8. Successful completion of OHLA’s "Advanced 2". 
  9. A minimum grade of 5 or higher in International Baccalaureate (IB) English-A course or a minimum grade of 6 or higher in International Baccalaureate (IB) English-B course. 

Exemptions from language policy:
International students are exempt from the language policy if they meet one of the criteria below:

  1. They have obtained a degree from an institution in the United States (US) or a country where English is the official language and the medium of instruction.
  2. They studied 2 years or more at a US high school and earned a high school diploma.
  3. They have at least one year high school education in the USA and earned a B or higher in the English or English Literature class (not ESL, not English grammar).
  4. They are submitting an official SAT/ACT score report that meets the university minimum requirements. Minimum SAT of 900 or Minimum ACT of 16.
  5. They have satisfactorily completed 24 semester credit hours (not including ESL classes) at an accredited college or university in the US or a country where English is the official language and the medium of instruction.
  6. They have satisfactorily completed the equivalent of College Composition I and College Composition II with a grade of “C” or above at an accredited U.S. college or university.
  7. They have obtained an International Baccalaureate (IB) diploma.

The following countries have English as their official language and the language of instruction and are exempt from English language testing requirements

Note: Students who do not meet the English language requirement and/or any other requirement for full admission to an academic program at É«ÀÇÉçÇø may apply for Conditional Admissions
