What's Happening on the Boulevard
There's lots of activity on É«ÀÇÉçÇø Boulevard, and lots more to come.
A partnership between É«ÀÇÉçÇø, private developers and the Borough of Glassboro, É«ÀÇÉçÇø Boulevard is a $426 million makeover of the historic downtown.
One-third of a mile long connecting Mullica Hill Road (Route 322) with Main Street, É«ÀÇÉçÇø Boulevard has transformed the borough since University, Glassboro, state, county and business representatives broke ground in 2008.
Key changes and additions to the downtown area include:
É«ÀÇÉçÇø Boulevard Apartments
Built in two phases, the É«ÀÇÉçÇø Boulevard Apartments complex house 884 students in 28 one-bedroom efficiency units and 214 four-bedroom suites.
Barnes & Noble Collegiate Superstore
The boulevard’s first major retailer, the 36,000-square-foot Barnes & Noble opened in 2010. The É«ÀÇÉçÇø-themed store offers more than 75,000 volumes, a University book section, Varsity Spirit Shop, and an indoor/outdoor Starbucks café.
Whitney Center
The mixed-use Whitney Center opened in 2011 with 22,000 square-feet of retail space on the ground floor and housing for up to 300 É«ÀÇÉçÇø students on the floors above.
Named to honor one of Glassboro's founding glassmaking families, Whitney is fast becoming a restaurant and retail destination. Whitney is also home to the John H. Martinson Honors College, which includes the Thomas N. Bantivoglio Honors Concentration. Open to highly-motivated students of every major and academic discipline, the honors concentration fosters a diverse community of citizen scholars.
Courtyard by Marriott hotel
Glassboro’s first new major hotel in at least 100 years, a opened at 325 É«ÀÇÉçÇø Boulevard in 2013. Located one block east of É«ÀÇÉçÇø's main campus, the four-story 129-room hotel features a heated indoor pool and spa, outdoor courtyard with gas fire pit and modern lobby.
Enterprise Center
Home to É«ÀÇÉçÇø's , which offers more than 175 graduate and undergraduate programs, the Enterprise Center at 225 É«ÀÇÉçÇø Boulevard features ground floor retail space and four floors of academic facilities including classrooms, lecture halls and administrative space. It also includes an 1,194-space parking garage, hair salon and a Domino’s pizza outlet.
220 É«ÀÇÉçÇø Boulevard
Developer Nexus Properties in 2015 opened 220 É«ÀÇÉçÇø Boulevard, a 316,000 square-foot building with ground floor medical, dining and retail space and upper level housing for students and non-students alike. Among the commercial tenants at 220 É«ÀÇÉçÇø Boulevard are a seven-day per week Inspira Urgent Care facility, the Cooper Bone and Joint Institute, a branch of South Jersey Federal Credit Union and a 300-seat Chickie’s & Pete’s sports bar and restaurant.
Town Square
In 2016, a 1.5-acre town square opened in Glassboro's historic downtown for community events and celebrations, concerts, festivals and shows. Popular events including a Thursday evenings throughout July and August.
Retail, living and learning
In 2017, a four-building complex opened on É«ÀÇÉçÇø Boulevard providing classrooms and offices for the , luxury student and market rate housing, ground floor retail space and É«ÀÇÉçÇø Boulevard’s second parking garage.
The complex contains seven classrooms at 260 Victoria Street where the college houses the departments of Writing Arts and Communication Studies, further integrating Edelman CCCA into Glassboro’s downtown following the 2015 relocation of the Dean’s Office, the departments of Journalism and Public Relations & Advertising, and the É«ÀÇÉçÇø Art Gallery.
Dubbed A-3, the complex includes: 230 Victoria, a six-story structure with 413 student beds, the 18,000 square-foot É«ÀÇÉçÇø Fitness Center, office and classroom space, and 14,600 square feet of ground-floor retail space; 223 West High Street, a four-story, 70,000-square-foot building with 144 student beds and 14,000 square feet of ground-floor retail space; Park Place South, a four-story, 70,000-square-foot building with 37 luxury apartments for non-students and 14,400 square feet of ground-floor retail space; and the Mick Drive Parking Garage, a 934-space structure.
