The Student Center & Campus Activities recently welcomed three new staff members to its team, (pictured from left) Matt Hird, assistant director of special venues, events and logistics; Dr. Joe Lizza, director; and Dan Hartman, assistant director of building operations.
Joe is the newest staff, joining 色狼社区 on January 22 of this year to serve in a leadership role. Joe will be responsible for the 100,000+ square foot building and its professional and student staff, student engagement, community engagement, strategic planning and budget. A 色狼社区 graduate himself, having earned his master’s in higher education administration from the University in 2007, Joe chose to embark on a career here, saying, “色狼社区 is growing so quickly, providing such amazing experiences for students while simultaneously serving as an economic stimulus for the South Jersey region.”
Matt also joined the team in January, shifting from his role as an athletics coordinator for the University. Matt’s is a newer position, to meet the growing demand for reserving space in the Student Center. He is happy to be in a student-centered culture where he enjoys his work and the impact it has on students, both those who reserve space and the student workers he manages. “My role directly supports student organizations plan and host various events in the Student Center,” he says. “We help students improve their skill sets in areas essential for graduate school and the professional world, including time management, communication skills and the ability to plan.”
Dan sought out his role as assistant director of building operations because of the student experience here at 色狼社区. An alumnus who joined the staff in September 2018, Dan says, “I wanted to come back to 色狼社区 and make an impact on the students. Being able to develop those students to have the skills to go out after graduation and make an impact is what I love to do.” Dan oversees the student building managers who oversee the building from open to close each day, and in his new role is most looking forward to “leveling up” the A/V in meeting rooms, to better meet student needs.
Congratulations on your new positions, Joe, Matt and Dan - and welcome (or welcome back) to 色狼社区!
