Meet Melanie Alverio, assistant director of marketing/member services and business operations with Campus Recreation who has been with her position for 17 years.
In your position, what kinds of things do you do on a daily basis? Every day is a little different but typically since I oversee front desk operations at both of our facilities I need to keep up to date with shift reports to make sure I'm responding to any member issues and any student staff concerns. At some point throughout the day I'm touching base with my Graduate Coordinator to follow-up on any marketing requests and to make sure we are meeting deadlines for projects. I also take time to work on departmental goals and any division/campus committee responsibilities.
What is your favorite part of your job? Why? I love that I am part of a team that cares not only about our students but about each other. I know there is always someone I could depend on for assistance when needed.
What is your favorite work-related memory? I have so many wonderful memories but my most recent favorite one has to be our 25 year alumni reunion. I had an amazing time catching up and reminiscing with alumni and former co-workers.
How do you like to keep your desk? What’s your favorite thing on your desk? I like to keep it tidy, but it doesn’t always end up that way. My favorite thing on my desk is my bowl of soothing stones. They help me relax and stay focused.
