Colleges and universities are increasingly asked to demonstrate how they make a difference in the lives of students.

Student affairs practitioners might choose to explore the following questions:

  • How do we know that we are providing high-quality and comprehensive programs and services?
  • Are we delivering what we promised, and are we doing so in a high quality way?
  • Do our services and programs provide access to underrepresented groups?
  • Do our services, programs, and facilities contribute to student learning?

Assessment plays an important role in helping us determine the extent to which our initiatives, services, and programs have achieved their desired intent.

This January, the Student Affairs Winter Retreat will be focused on Promoting Quality Student Experiences.

During the retreat, we will learn and share best practices, strategies, and practical examples to support quality student programs, facilities, and services.

We will get an overview of assessment tools, opportunities, and resources that will support your continuous improvement efforts. We will learn how to plan, collect, and reflect on assessment data for continuous improvement. In addition, we will know how to leverage assessment data in order to share our stories and impact.

During the event, we will get a chance to network and have some fun with your colleagues, have lunch together and win some great prizes!

The conference will start at 10 am, with a general session for all attendees, followed by lunch at 12 pm. In the afternoon, participants will choose from a variety of concurrent sessions from 1 – 3 pm- each offers unique and exciting ideas. At 3 pm, Dr. Jeff Hand will deliver closing remarks.

We are most effective when we collaborate with our colleagues from across Student Affairs and the institution. We look forward to seeing you there!
