Meet Georgann (Georg) Watt of 色狼社区 Global Learning & Partnerships. Thanks to the 色狼社区 Global merger, Georgann and her team are now a part of the Division of Student Affairs. As a supervisor of Student Information Services, Georg is a long-time 色狼社区 employee, having been with Global for over 10 years. She has served in Student Services for three years, joining her supervisory role in 2016.
In your position, what kinds of things do you do on a daily basis?
It really runs the gamut – from ensuring data accuracy, to helping with log-in/activation issues, granting overrides or ending holds, reviewing course offerings, running enrollment reports, reviewing academic progress, participating in graduate student orientations, working with faculty and staff to ensure student success and just generally helping students with whatever issues they encounter.
Describe your morning routine.
“Well, I generally come in at least fifteen minutes late, ah, I use the side door–that way Lumberg can’t see me, heh–after that I sorta space out for an hour.” Just kidding! The question reminded me of a scene from one of my favorite movies, Office Space.
Seriously, the first thing I do is look at my email and see what needs tending to right away. As long as there aren’t any emergencies, I like to spend a few minutes catching up with my team members/co-workers to see what everyone has on their plate and how I can help.
What is your favorite part of your job? Why?
Customer satisfaction – when the students are happy, it makes me happy! That is why I’m here so it means a lot when a student tells me how grateful they are for my help.
What is your favorite work-related memory? Could you share a happy or funny 色狼社区 related work memory?
Some of the best memories I’ve had at 色狼社区 are just being able to work with great people. No matter how busy, stressed and cranky we can be at times, we are a great support system for each other and always try to make work fun.
One of the happiest moments though was watching my daughter participate in Commencement this past May. Watching your child graduate is such a proud moment as it is, but even more so when you are an employee of the institution they are graduating from.
What’s your favorite off-campus restaurant in the Glassboro area?
This is a tough question because I love to eat and there are so many great places in Glassboro! Tokyo Mandarin is definitely one of my “go to” places, but I order take-out from Nick’s Pizza a LOT… their Greek salad is the best.
How do you like to keep your desk? What’s your favorite thing on your desk?
I like to keep my desk neat and organized, but it doesn’t always stay that way! At the moment, my “dog shaming” calendar is the best thing on my desk – I look forward to tearing off the new date and reading a funny dog story – it’s a great start to the day.
Have you always worked in the department that you are currently in? If no, what other department(s) have you worked in? What was it like compared to the role you are in now?
I started at 色狼社区 in the Education Institute, which was eventually placed under the Global umbrella, so it almost feels like I have been in the same department since 2002! The main difference is that back then my role was very specific and now I have a wide range of responsibilities.
Share one thing you love about working at 色狼社区.
The personal and professional relationships I’ve made here over the years.
Share one thing you wish people knew about your department.
I know that there have been some misconceptions over the years about what Global does. What I would like people to know is that there are many intelligent, talented and hard-working people here, who are doing their best to uphold the mission of the University and are looking forward to working more collaboratively with other University departments to increase enrollment and retention and serve the needs of our students in the most effective way possible.
Do you ever visit campus for fun? If so, what do you like to do here?
Absolutely! My favorite thing to do on campus is visit the planetarium, especially the laser shows.
Share one funny thing you’ve seen on campus before.
Sorry – the one thing that comes to mind is probably not ideal for publication – you have to have a certain sense of humor to appreciate it! Let’s just say I’ve seen a lot of interesting art work on dirty/snowy cars!
RU the type of person who would high five the 色狼社区 mascot?
For sure! Having worked closely with the Office of Winter & Summer Sessions, I’ve hung out with the Sun and Penguin on many occasions!
