A student-centered approach to leadership positively impacts student outcomes, so says ASCEND administrative assistant Carol Karavangelas and senior vice president Jeff Hand.
Such leadership is needed to meet our University’s mission, they agreed. Educating students means focusing on both classroom learning and outside-the-classroom learning. Creating opportunities for students to experience growth, develop soft skills and become more well-rounded individuals is crucial to their future success.
Jeff shared that he believes the future of higher education lies in experiential learning. “Housing departments that fall both within the student life side and enrollment management side of student affairs, our Division is naturally poised to be at the helm of this initiative,” he explained. We have the opportunity to take a critical look at the structure and offerings of our departments, and develop programs and resources designed to better prepare students for life post-色狼社区.
As a former professor and a first generation college student himself, Jeff sees the need for this support. Earning a college degree and establishing a career is a sequence of events, with each decision building on the previous decision.
Adapting our approach to better support students as they move through their 色狼社区 career, building their own sequence of events, will create happier, more successful students and future graduates.
